Breast Augmentation – WHAT TECHNIQUES ARE INVOLVED?

Breast Augmentation Dubai | 25 April 2024

Having fuller more voluptuous breasts is a very important part of feeling feminine and more confident for women. The breasts give the female body more proportion, curves and shape, which makes many women feel more sexy.  There are a variety of factors that make women unhappy with their breasts. Such factors include the effects of aging, gravity which leads to sagging, post pregnancy changes and natural asymmetry. A breast augmentation helps women improve the overall appearance of the breasts and cleavage. This results in an improved self esteem, confidence and feeling sexier about your body.

Reasons why women seek breast augmentation include:

Improved body proportion

Correct loss of fullness or sagging due to aging, gravy, or pregnancy

Improve cleavage appearance

Increase breast shape and size

Correct asymmetry of the breasts (one breast is larger than another)

WHAT TECHNIQUES ARE INVOLVED?

Breast augmentation involves the placement of an implant under the patient’s breast tissue to enhance the size and shape of the breast. The breast implants are usually inserted using an incision placed under the breast at the crease, but can also be put in via an incision in the armpit or around the nipple.

Breast augmentation surgery takes about one and a half hours, and is usually done under general anaesthetic. The operation itself involves accessing and creating the pocket into which the implant will be placed, using one of the insertion routes mentioned above: breast-crease, armpit  or nipple.

Incision Options

There are three different types of incisions that can be performed when getting a breast augmentation surgery. These incisions are Inframammary (incision below the breast), Transaxillary (through the armpit), and Peri-Areolar (along the lower edge of the Areola). Dr Vigo will go over the different options available to you during your consultation, showing you the benefits of each option and explaining exactly how they are performed including the associated recovery time for each.

Inframammary

An inframammary incision is the most common incision when getting a breast augmentation. This incision is made in the fold below the breast and carries a very low risk of complications. Inframammary incisions are highly recommended for large pre-filled implants such as silicone. These incisions are usually discreet as it goes along the natural crease below the breast, however, on occasion the scar may be visible due to the size or shape of the implant. All patients heal at different rates. Your incisions will be monitored after surgery and tailor your scar managment to optimize healing and appearence. Proper care and maintenance of your incisions will be closely followed with you as you heal.

Peri-Areolar

A Peri-Areolar incision is done around the bottom edge of the areola and is typically four to five centimeters in length. This incision is very discreet after it is healed. Often times it is impossible to notice as it goes along the natural edge of the areola. The trade off risks and benefits of their incision approach will be disscused at the time of your consultation. Some  women may experience difficulty with breast feeding after this incision approach. Nipple sensitivity is also jeopardized with this approach compared to other incision sites.

Transaxillary

A Transaxillary incision is the least visible of the different incision options as it is made in the armpit. This ensures there are no scars anywhere near the breasts. The breast augmentation procedure is performed using an endoscope during the surgery, which allows the surgeon to see the implant inside the pocket. Having the ability to see the implant inside the pocket allows for the best surgical decisions and precise placement of the implant. Implant type is limited by the incision, as only round smooth implants can be placed through this incision.

Once the pocket has been created, the surgeon may insert a trial implant to check that the size chosen is appropriate. The trial implant is removed, the definitive implant inserted and the incision wounds are stitched. You will be able to go home the same day. Postoperative pain in these procedures is easily controlled. Your chest will feel tight. Your breasts and ribs below your breasts will be tender. Patients will be mobile from day one and should be back to full exercise within six weeks. Patients are recommended to take around one to two weeks off work immediately after the operation in order to ensure you recuperate fully.

Implant Placement Options

There are two choices when it comes to the placement of the breast implants you select. They are subglandular (above the muscle) or submuscular (below the muscle). The benefits of each of the different placement options will be discussed with you at your consultation with a  recommendation of a specific placement option depending on the natural shape of your breasts or your overall goals for getting a breast augmentation.

Subglandular

Subglandular placement is when the implant is placed above the muscle. During this placement, the implants are placed below the natural breast tissue and the surgery is usually quicker but the recovery time is about the same as below the muscle. One of the benefits of subglandular placement is that if future surgery may be required due to rupture or leakage, it allows for easier access to the implant. However, subglandular placement does also have its downsides, such as an increased risk of capsular contracture, concerns about breast views on mammography, and the implant may be able to be felt through the skin.

Submuscular

Submuscular placement is when the breast implant is put under the pectoral muscle. The benefit with submuscular placement is that the final result of the breast augmentation will look and feel more natural. Any breast imaging will be easier including mammographies, because it is easier to differentiate the implant from real breast tissue. Most patients are able to drive in a few days and you may shower the next day. Most surgeons agree that implants under the muscle are in the best position for the long term health of the patient.

Dual plane augmentation

When slender women with slightly drooping breasts seek breast augmentation surgery, surgeons often combine these two routes, placing the implants partly behind the breast and partly behind the muscle. Through this combined approach surgeons try to give patients the benefits of both techniques. This is called a dual plane augmentation.

BEFORE BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY

Before going into breast augmentation surgery, it is very important to get a good nights rest. You must follow the instructions given such as limitations to food or medications the day before surgery. All of this is important to get the best results and have the quickest recovery possible when getting surgery.

On the day of surgery make sure you have a friend or family member drive you to the surgical facility. You may be very sleepy from anesthesia after the surgery. Before surgery, your surgeon will review the choices you selected and answer any final questions or concerns you may have.

Your body will then be marked and you will be guided  through exactly what will happen during the surgery.

Breast Augmentation – FORGET CUP SIZE

Breast Augmentation Dubai | 20 April 2024

You might not want to hear this but I am going to tell you anyway: you need to forget thinking about cup size. Women tend to think in cup sizes because that is how they buy bras. The most common comment I hear is, “I’d like to be a C-cup”. When I hear that I translate it to mean, “She wants her breasts to look like they fit the rest of her body.” This is because cup size for patients having breast augmentation is a very subjective measurement. Everyone wears their bras differently and every bra manufacturer makes them differently. You may be a 36C in one bra and a 34D in another. And when you check out all the different styles at your local Victoria’s Secret, you can understand why I say think proportion and shape, not cup size!

BREAST AUGMENTATION – DO I NEED A “LIFT”?

Plastic Surgery Dubai | 15 April 2024

Breast sagging is a natural aspect of becoming older and can be brought on by pregnancy, breastfeeding, or drastic weight loss. Women who are dissatisfied with the way their breasts look because of drooping (ptosis) may think about breast lift surgery in addition to breast augmentation.

Look at your nipples in relation to the crease beneath your breasts while standing in front of a mirror. Without also removing extra skin through a breast lift, putting implants will just make your breasts droop further if your nipples were lower than your breast crease before to surgery. In this situation, I ordinarily suggest that ladies get breast augmentation and a breast lift. The most difficult type of female breast surgery is breast lifts. They need the skill of a plastic surgeon who has had extensive training and experience.

BREAST AUGMENTATION – ALL ABOUT SIZING

Breast Enlargement Dubai | 10 April 2024

Dr. Vigo advises his patients to consider proportion and shape more so than cup size when it comes to sizing. Patients desiring breast augmentation must measure their cup size, which is highly subjective. No two people are alike, and even breasts on the same body are not alike! I must assess your skeletal and muscular structure, overall anatomy, and the quality, thickness, and suppleness of the current tissue before I can establish your eventual size.

Everyone wears bras extremely differently, which is due in part to these factors. In addition, sizes between manufacturers vary greatly. As a result, when considering your new size, focus more on proportion and shape. Most essential, don’t base your size decision on what your significant other or a friend might have.

Together, we will carefully choose your implant size during your consultation based on measurements rather than volume.

ARE YOU A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION?

Breast Augmentation Dubai | 5 April 2024

One of the most popular techniques for changing the size or look of the breasts is breast enlargement surgery, sometimes referred to as breast augmentation or breast enhancement. Many women choose to get breast augmentation surgery in order to feel better about their physical appearance and to be more comfortable with the size and health of their breasts.

There are a plethora of reasons why people choose to get breast augmentations. People with small, uneven, or bosoms that have lost volume or shape as a result of pregnancy or weight loss typically undergo the procedure. All patients must have a thorough evaluation and consultation with Dr. Vigo, even if they have no specific cause for wanting to have their breasts enlarged, lifted, or reduced. Women who have not reached sexual maturity should avoid having breast augmentation surgery because their bodies may change significantly over time.

After Your Breast Augmentation Surgery

Breast Augmentation Dubai | 1 April 2024

When your surgery is complete, you’ll be taken into a recovery area where you will be closely monitored. Although the time varies, most patients are discharged one to two hours after the procedure.

Your breasts will be wrapped in gauze dressings or a surgical bra. You’ll receive detailed instructions for your post-surgical care, including drains if they’ve been used. In most cases, you’ll go home in just a few hours.

You will need a caregiver to drive you home and to stay with you for the first 24 hours to watch for signs of complications.

You will be walking that same day. Your chest will feel stiff and sore for the first few days, but you can be up and about in just a day or two. Dressings can be removed in a few days, after which time you’ll wear a support bra. You’ll be able to shower three to seven days after surgery, and stitches will be removed in about a week.

Your breasts may feel tight and sensitive to the touch at first, and your skin may feel warm or itchy. It may be difficult to raise your arms. You should not lift, push or pull anything, or engage in any strenuous activity or twisting of the upper body for the first two weeks. You’ll notice some discoloration and swelling at first, but this will subside quickly. Any additional swelling should disappear within a month.

It’s often possible to return to work within a few days to a week after your breast augmentation, depending on your type of job. You should be extremely gentle with your breasts, avoiding excessive force, abrasion or motion for at least the first month.

If you experience shortness of breath, chest pains or an unusual heart rhythm during this time, seek medical attention immediately. It’s extremely important to follow your post-operative instructions.

BREAST LIFTING – WITH & WITHOUT IMPLANTS

Plastic Surgery Dubai | 30 March 2024

You might be interested in learning more about mastopexy surgery if you’ve grown more and more unhappy with the way your breasts are sagging. In order to reach your goals, Dr. Vigo may recommend adjunct operations such as breast augmentation or breast reduction in addition to your lift.

A breast lift restores a youthful form and lift to your breasts by addressing sagging and uneven breasts, decreased breast volume, drooping nipples, and stretched areolas (the darker area surrounding the nipples). In addition to a lift, a breast augmentation or breast reduction may be advised if there is an imbalance in the volume of the breasts. Numerous thousands of women have effective breast-lift surgeries each year, with no significant side effects, and are happy with the results.

BREAST LIFT WITH IMPLANTS
If you have very little breast volume and your breasts are sagging or have lost shape as a result of childbirth, weight loss, or the ageing process, cosmetic surgery that combines a breast lift (mastopexy) and the placement of breast implants (breast enlargement) can help you achieve the look you want.

Breast uplift surgery with implants will elevate ptosis (drooping) breasts by adjusting the position, size, and shape of the breasts during a single procedure that lasts around 2-2.5 hours, is performed under a general anaesthetic, and necessitates an overnight hospital stay. To give the breasts a more young and pert appearance, breast uplift surgery is quite successful.

If you already have sufficient breast volume then a breast lift without implants may be suggested by your surgeon. All your options will be discussed in detail at your surgeon consultation including the size of the implant and the extent of the breast lift.

BREAST LIFT WITHOUT IMPLANTS
A mastopexy, commonly known as a breast lift without implants, is a surgical surgery that alters the size and contour of the chest by raising the breasts. Breast lifts—also called breast uplifts or boob lifts—reshape the breast to give it a more youthful appearance by removing extra skin and breast tissue. Implants might not always be the best option for you if you want to improve the form and profile of your breasts.

A breast lift without implants will solve this if your breasts are sagging but still have enough volume. This will give your breasts a more pert appearance. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or a major weight reduction are the most frequent causes of droopy breasts.

WHEN TO CONSIDER A BREAST LIFT
– Pregnancy, nursing, gravity, weight gain or loss, normal aging, and
heredity have taken a toll on the shape of your breasts, resulting in
sagging or excess skin
– If your surgeon thinks that breast implants alone are unlikely to achieve
the contour you desire
– If the tissue surrounding the nipple or areola has become stretched

WHY HAVE A BREAST UPLIFT?
Breasts naturally droop with age, after pregnancy and breastfeeding, and after weight loss – this is because the skin and fibrous ligaments in the breast become stretched so the breast tissue is not supported.

It is not possible to recreate the fibrous support of the breasts, but they can be reshaped by removing extra skin, remodelling the breast tissue and moving the nipples up to the best position on the new breasts. Other options are to reduce the size of the areola (the darker skin around the nipple), or to have the breasts enlarged at the same time.

Having a breast uplift can make the breasts firmer and higher. After a breast uplift you may be more comfortable socially and personally. The best results are with women with small, saggy breasts, but breasts of any size can be lifted. The results of a breast uplift may not last as long with heavy breasts.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN BEFORE MY OPERATION?
You will meet with Dr. Vigo to talk about why you want surgery and what you want. Dr. Vigo will make a note of any illnesses you have or have had in the past. He will also make a record of any medication you are on, including herbal remedies and medicines that are not prescribed by your doctor.

Dr. Vigo will examine your breasts, and may take some photographs for your medical records. They will ask you if you want to have someone with you during the examination, and ask you to sign a consent form for taking, storing and using the photographs. He will measure your height and weight to make sure that it is safe to do an operation. If you are overweight, or planning to become pregnant, Dr. Vigo may suggest delaying your operation.

HOW IS THE SURGERY PERFORMED?
There are different types of uplift. The best type of uplift for you depends on your breast size and the result you want. Different types of uplift make different scars on the breasts. Whichever type of uplift you choose, the scars should not be visible when you wear normal clothing, bras and bikini tops,

The most common type of uplift, with a cut around your areola and vertically under your breast. Sometimes there is a cut in the crease under the breast to make an anchor shape. Extra skin is removed from underneath the breast, the breast is reshaped into a tighter cone and the nipples are moved to a higher level.

The size of the areola can also be reduced. If your breasts are small as well as droopy, you can have them enlarged with silicone implants. Having breast implants is the only way to significantly increase fullness above the nipples, but their weight can make the breast droop again over time.

MASTOPEXY SURGERY STEPS
Breast lift surgery involves reshaping the breast tissue and removing excess skin. Incision options include:

1) the pattern in which an incision is made around the areola
2) the vertical incision, in which incisions are made around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease
3) the inverted T or anchor incision, in which incisions are made around the are- ola, vertically down to the breast crease, and along the inferior breast fold.

The incision selected is based on your existing breast size and shape, the size and position of your areolae, the amount of breast sagging, and your skin quality and elasticity.

After the incisions are made, the breast tissue is lifted and reshaped, the nipple and areola are reduced and repositioned, and excess skin is removed. Sutures are placed deep within the breast tissue to support the newly shaped breasts. The incisions are then closed with dissolvable sutures.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY STAGE LIKE?
Following surgery, you will awaken in the recovery area. A responsible adult will need to be available to escort you home. The day after surgery, you may shower while leaving the tapes on your skin intact. Patients are seen in the clinic one week following surgery. Most sutures placed will dissolve on their own. Special bandages and drains are not used. Most patients do not complain of severe pain following this surgery, but note that their breasts feel sore for several days. Pain medication is prescribed for any discomfort. Swelling will be present for the initial 3-4 weeks after surgery. The scars will continue to fade and soften for up to one year following surgery, although they will never completely disappear.

COMMON REASONS WOMEN CHOOSE BREAST LIFT SURGERY
After pregnancy and breastfeeding, to improve breast shape. The breasts may undergo some unfavourable alterations during pregnancy; they are frequently left strained and drooping. These alterations can be reversed and a more aesthetically attractive appearance can be restored by a breast lift, whether or not implants are used. after a large weight loss, to improve breast contour.

Frequently, breast volume decreases with weight loss. By eliminating extra skin, a breast lift can assist in restoring a younger, more proportionate breast form. to experience having a lovely, perky breast form for the first time. Breast drooping has affected a small but growing proportion of breast lift patients since their teen years. A lady might achieve the desired breast profile through breast lift surgery.

BLEPHAROPLASTY: UPPER & LOWER EYELID SURGERY

Plastic Surgery Dubai | 27 March 2024

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is corrective medical procedure to eliminate abundance skin or fat from the eyelids. The point is to work on hooded or hanging eyelids or eye packs. Before you go on, make certain about your explanations behind needing eyelid medical procedure. Remember the expense, the dangers, and the reality the outcomes can’t be ensured.

Blepharoplasty is a profoundly particular eyelid medical procedure that rectifies hanging, loose, or hanging lower or upper covers for a more open, welcoming, energetic look. Some go through blepharoplasty only for corrective reasons, while others select this plastic medical procedure to work on their vision.

The skin on the eyelid is very flimsy and touchy, and the possibility of undergoing surgery for eye a medical procedure can overwhelm. In this aide, I’ll start blepharoplasty and make sense of what you can anticipate
from your system.

Blepharoplasty is an activity performed on the eyelids (upper, lower or both) which includes the expulsion of skin and delicate tissue, bringing about a fresher more energetic appearance to the eyes and whole face.
The blepharoplasty system is finished to decrease the greatness around the eyes.

This appearance can be related with skin, fat, and muscle overabundance both to the upper and lower eyelids leaving patients with a drained appearance despite the fact that might feel great rested. Blepharoplasty is in many cases performed as an elective medical procedure for corrective reasons. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty tries to further develop puffy lower eyelid “packs” and diminish the wrinkling of skin.

Blepharoplasty is once in a while required for utilitarian reasons. At the point when a high level measure of upper eyelid skin is available, the skin might project over the eyelashes and causes a deficiency of fringe vision. The external and upper pieces of the visual field are most generally impacted and the condition might cause trouble with exercises like driving or perusing. In this situation, upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed to work on fringe vision.

UNDERSTANDING HOW BLEPHAROPLASTY PERFORMED
For upper eyelids, the specialist cuts along the crease of the eyelid. The specialist eliminates some overabundance skin, muscle and conceivably fat. Then, at that point, the specialist shuts the cut.

On the lower cover, the specialist makes a cut just underneath the lashes in your eye’s regular wrinkle or inside the lower top. The specialist eliminates or rearranges overabundance fat, muscle and hanging skin. Then, at that point, the specialist shuts the cut.

On the off chance that your upper eyelid hangs near your student, your specialist might do blepharoplasty joined with a technique called ptosis. Ptosis is intended to lift the eyelid as well as eliminate overabundance eyelid skin.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR BLEPHAROPLASTY
Hanging eyelids can make you look a lot more seasoned than you truly are. The saggy tops likewise make shadow zones that give your face a hazier, harsh appearance. Be that as it may, restorative medical procedure isn’t a great fit for everybody.

For the most part, optimal possibility for blepharoplasty incorporate the people who experience the ill effects of saggy lower eyelids that cause an expanded measure of eye white to show, the people who have hanging upper covers brought about by a development of greasy tissue underneath the skin and people who are having their vision – particularly their fringe vision – darkened. Packs under the lower covers can likewise be revised with blepharoplasty.

Eyelid blepharoplasty can have a striking effect in the presence of your face, lightening the presence of sluggishness and advanced age. Your eyes seem fresher and more young and these outcomes might keep going for a long time. The level of progress shifts from one patient to another.

BLEPHAROPLASTY OUTCOMES
Following a blepharoplasty medical procedure the face will have a more energetic appearance and generally speaking the eyelids feel less weighty.

The outcomes by and large last 10 to 15 years and the medical procedure typically needn’t bother with to be rehashed. There is no such thing as an ideal tasks and no specialist is great. No individual has wonderful prior life systems and no skin twisted recuperates without some level of scarring. A gentle level of deviation between eyelids is the standard, as opposed to the exemption.

A practical assumption from the medical procedure would be a 80% improvement in the upper eyelid appearance and a 70% improvement in the lower eyelid appearance.

BREAST RECONSTRUCTION AFTER MASTECTOMY

Plastic Surgery Dubai | 24 March 2024

Breast reconstruction is a surgical procedure that creates a replacement breast after a breast or a portion of a breast has been removed. The goal is to create a breast that is comparable to your natural breast in size and form. However, they won’t be the same.

TYPES OF RECONSTRUCTION
The main ways of making a new breast include:

– implants to replace all or some of your breast tissue
– using tissue taken from another part of your body (autologous fat grafting or “flap” reconstruction)
– using your own tissue and an implant

Dr. Vigo will talk to you about the different types of reconstruction. They may not all be suitable for you. They aim to match your other breast as much as possible. Dr. Vigo can also show you pictures of different types of breast reconstruction. You can see how the reconstruction looks straight after surgery and several months later.

After reconstruction surgery you might consider more surgery to:

– create a new nipple (a nipple reconstruction)
– change the shape of your other breast to match

WHEN TO HAVE BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
Breast reconstruction can be done:

– at the same time as the cancer surgery (immediate reconstruction)
– after your cancer surgery (delayed reconstruction)

When discussing reconstruction options with you, Dr. Vigo will consider:

– the type and stage of your cancer
– other treatments that you might need
– your feelings and preferences

IMMEDIATE BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
You immediately receive a new breast following an instant reconstruction. While Dr. Vigo will make every effort to match the reconstructed breast to your other breast, it won’t be an identical match. The replacement breast will appear and feel different from the removed one. However, some women discover that having their breasts immediately rebuilt makes it easier for them to deal with their emotions.

Advantages
– You will have your new reconstructed breast when you wake up after your mastectomy or breast conserving surgery.
– You usually have fewer operations, so fewer anaesthetics.

There won’t be as much scarring on the breast that was rebuilt; however, there may be a tiny patch of scarred skin where your nipple once was.

Disadvantages
– You might not have as much time to decide on the type of reconstruction you want.
– If you are having radiotherapy after surgery, it might change how the reconstruction looks.
– Dr. Vigo might advise you not to have implant reconstruction if you are having radiotherapy afterwards. But you can have a temporary implant during radiotherapy and a second reconstruction operation after the radiotherapy.
– Recovery time after surgery is longer with a reconstruction compared to having a mastectomy only.
– You may have more scars on your body, this depends on the type of reconstruction you have.

It’s probable that you’ll require additional surgery; this is typically minor surgery to achieve the best cosmetic result, and it might involve developing a new nipple. Complications following surgery may cause you to postpone receiving any necessary radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy occasionally prevent the body from healing itself as effectively. Therefore, you won’t be able to begin these treatments until the wounds have healed if there are any issues with the wound following your operation.

DELAYED BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
Before considering having a reconstruction, some people would prefer to recover from their mastectomy and breast cancer therapy.

Advantages
– You have more time to look at your options and discuss them with
Dr. Vigo.
– Your breast cancer treatment will be finished and won’t be affected by your reconstruction surgery.
– Your recovery is generally quicker as you have time to prepare yourself for your surgery.

Disadvantages
– You have a time after the mastectomy with no breast tissue, you can choose to wear a false breast (prosthesis) if you want to.
– You might have a larger scar on the reconstructed breast than after immediate reconstruction.
– You may need more surgery afterwards to get a good cosmetic effect – this is usually minor surgery that you may have as a day case.

WHO CAN HAVE BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
Breast reconstruction might be possible for you even if you have:

– a radical mastectomy (removal of the breast and the muscle behind it)
– a skin or nipple sparing mastectomy (when the nipple is preserved)
– a quadrantectomy (removal of part of the breast)
– a lumpectomy (removal of the lump only)
– radiotherapy
– large breasts

If you are well enough you can have breast reconstruction at any age. There is a higher risk of complications if you smoke, are very overweight, or have other serious medical conditions.

RECONSTRUCTION AFTER BREAST CONSERVING SURGERY
Breast conserving surgery removes only part of the breast. After this kind of surgery and subsequent radiotherapy, the appearance of the breast is typically very excellent. When only a portion of a woman’s breast is taken, few of them require reconstructive surgery. But some women might require repair of the breast tissue that is still present. A partial surgery or breast reshaping might be an option.

HAVING A PARTIAL RECONSTRUCTION
Some women will require a quadrantectomy, for example, which involves removing a bigger portion of breast tissue. This indicates that roughly a fourth of the breast tissue is removed by Dr. Vigo. This kind of surgery results in the treated breast becoming smaller than the untreated breast and creates a dent in the breast. Nevertheless, by filling the dent with a small portion of living tissue, it is occasionally feasible to restore the shape with a partial reconstruction of the breast.

RESHAPING THE BREAST
If you need a portion of your breast removed and you have fairly large breasts, reshaping might be a possibility. Therapeutic mammoplasty is the term used. To make a smaller breast, Dr. Vigo reshapes the leftover breast tissue. You can have surgery to reduce the size of your other breast (breast reduction) concurrently with your cosmetic procedure to make them equal in size. Alternately, you could decide to consume this afterward.

HELPING YOURSELF BEFORE BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
If you take the following steps before your surgery, you will heal more rapidly after reconstruction surgery.

Stop smoking
Smoking can harm tissue blood flow. Additionally, it may make you more likely to contract an illness. Smoking raises the possibility of developing a hernia if tissue from the abdomen is removed.

Maintain a healthy weight
If you are overweight, you run a higher risk of experiencing problems from an anaesthetic. If you would like to reduce weight before the procedure, request a referral to a dietitian.

Keep physically active
It can be useful to do sit ups if tissue is going to be taken from your tummy (abdomen). You could aim to build up to 30 sit ups a day. Talk to your doctor or specialist nurse before starting any exercise.

LIPOSUCTION FOR EFFECTIVE BODY CONTOURING

Plastic Surgery Dubai | 21 March 2024

A common cosmetic procedure called liposuction can help you achieve a more consistent body contour and get rid of stubborn fat cells. For a tight and toned appearance, people frequently receive liposuction on their belly, buttocks, thighs, chin, neck, upper arms, calves, back, and on the back of their arms.

Unwanted fat deposits are present in places including the face, neck, breast, belly, upper arm, hips, thighs, knees, and ankles that are resistant to diet and exercise. Your surgeon will follow established guidelines regarding safe volumes that may be removed in one session during liposuction-liposculpture procedures, which can be performed on several areas at once. Although size improvement is a goal, weight loss is not the purpose of this surgery. After your surgery, it can take six months before the final effects are obvious.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING LIPOSUCTION?
Prior to discussing the procedure with you, Dr. Vigo will evaluate your general health, the condition of your skin, and the quantity of fat that needs to be removed.

Various anaesthetic techniques are employed during liposuction. You might use a local anaesthetic if only a modest amount of fat needs to be removed. A general anaesthesia could be necessary for more involved procedures. The quantity of fat being removed will determine how long your liposuction surgery takes.

Dr. Vigo will make a small incision in the skin. Using a thin, hollow tube they will break up the fat cells beneath the skin surface and remove them with a special suction or vacuum. Several incisions may be required for larger areas. Any incisions will be stitched at the end of the procedure. The area will be bandaged for support.

THE BENEFITS OF LIPOSUCTION
Liposuction has many benefits associated with having the procedure done. While most of the benefits are cosmetic in nature, there are a few medical benefits that could lead someone to have liposuction.

Lipodystrophy Syndrome: People who have this syndrome have fat that deposits in one area of their body and leaves another. Liposuction can give them an even fat distribution back.

Lipomas: A lipoma is a fatty tumor that is benign. They can develop all over a person’s body, but they routinely appear under the arms, neck, shoulders, and on your trunk. Liposuction can break up these fatty tumors.

Lymphedema: Lymphedema is a chronic condition that affects people on a long-term basis. Lymph fluid collects and pools under the skin causing swelling in the person’s legs and arms. Liposuction can take out this pooled fluid, reduce the swelling, and reduce any discomfort.

Weight Loss: People who have lost an extreme amount of weight may benefit from liposuction. It can break down any remaining stubborn fat deposits to give the person an even appearance.

Tightening and Toning: Liposuction can get rid of and reduce the appearance of uneven fat deposits. As a result, you’ll get a tighter and more toned physique.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Liposuction is considered to be a relatively safe procedure, but it does have a few side effects you want to watch out for. If you’re concerned, it’s always a good idea to contact Dr. Vigo.

– Bruising that can last for weeks
– Inflammation that can last up to six months
– Contour irregularities
– Numbness
– Infection
– Friction burns

HOW LIPOSUCTION WORKS
Small incisions are made in hair bearing areas or natural skin folds. A special tumescent solution is next placed within the fatty areas to be removed. This solution provides anesthesia to the areas, while limiting the usual blood loss. Fat is then carefully removed from the areas of concern to the patient using a surgical instrument called a cannula, which is attached with tubing to a suction machine. The time for completion of the procedure depends upon the total amount of fatty tissue removed. At the end of the procedure, the skin openings may be sutured or left open to heal, depending on the size of the openings. The patient may be placed in a compression garment that is worn for certain amount of time afterwards.

While recovery is easy, you should expect some initial drainage along with swelling, bruising and discomfort. Your compression garment will minimize the swelling, bruising, discomfort and assist in the retraction of any loose skin. While some results are noted immediately, your final shape and form will continue to improve as your swelling subsides. You will be encouraged to be up and about the night of your surgery and progressively increase your activities. Usually light work duties may be resumed within three to five days and vigorous exercise within two to four weeks.

The fat stores that have just been removed from your body are purified and readied for injection into your buttocks. Your surgeon finishes by injecting the processed fat into specific areas of the buttocks to create a more rounded, full look. They make three to five incisions around the buttocks for fat transfers. Both liposuction and fat transfer incisions are closed up with stitches. Your surgeon then applies a compression garment against the affected areas of skin to minimize your risk of bleeding.
For patients thinking about liposuction, it is important to remember that this treatment is not a cure, but can help to correct and improve bodily contours in areas that are resistant to weight loss. As a surgical technique, liposuction works by removing pockets of fat in areas that are beyond the reach of diet and exercise. It is most effective for people who are near normal weight and have firm, elastic skin. It should not be thought of as a substitute for losing weight.

The areas that are most commonly treated by liposuction are the tummy, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, neck, upper arms and male breasts. There are various liposuction techniques available, but no single technique works for all patients. Each liposuction procedure will be tailored to a patient’s needs and physical condition. At the end of the operation, tight bandages or elasticated clothing will be applied to the area to minimise swelling and help the body conform to its new shape. With the exception of showering, this garment should be worn both day and night for at least two weeks and thereafter for another four to six weeks.

Complications are infrequent, although there can be considerable pain following this procedure, particularly if a large amount of fat has been removed. The following are commonly experienced by patients:

Stiffness and pain; swelling, bruising; numbness; unusual sensations; fine thread veins; lumpy appearance as remaining fat settles

If a small amount of fat is removed during an operation, patients should be able to return to work within a day or two. However, you may need extra time off if the liposuction was more extensive. Patients can usually return to their usual routines within three to four weeks.

The effects of the operation should be long-lasting, so long as a patient’s weight remains stable.

COMPRESSION GARMENTS
You will be fitted with compression bandages or elasticated supports for the appropriate areas after your surgery. You will also have dressings to cover the entry points and wounds from surgery.

Compression bandages and compression garments will help to get rid of swelling and bruising. The length of time that you wear these for is dependent on the nature of your procedure; it can be several weeks or months.

You are likely to be given specific garments to wear, so that they target the precise area that they have treated. It is important to wear these and follow instructions from your surgeon, so that the affected areas are properly supported during your recovery.

You can remove these garments and bandages when you shower, but check what guidance your surgeon can offer regarding how soon you should wait before submerging the wound in water. Typically, you should avoid showering or bathing for the first week after your procedure.

LIPOSUCTION RECOVERY
You might be able to undergo the surgery as a day case, depending on the scope of the treatment. Once the anaesthesia wears off, you will require painkillers. After surgery, you might need to wear an elastic support garment for two to six weeks. Do not forget to ask a friend or family member to drive you home.

Five to ten days after your surgery, you’ll need to have your stitches removed. Depending on how extensive your treatment is, you might need to take one or two weeks off from work. You must rest and refrain from engaging in any vigorous activities for the first few weeks. The shape of your body will change once the swelling has subsided.
