MALE BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM OF EXCESS BREAST TISSUE
Plastic Surgery Dubai | 4 May 2023
Some males can think that one or both of their breasts are overly large. A hormonal imbalance or being severely overweight, which can increase oestrogen levels and cause breast tissue to enlarge, can cause this illness, known as gynaecomastia. Breast reduction surgery is an option for males with this issue. It can also be used to tighten the breast region after a large weight loss that has caused the skin to droop. However, it is not ideal for men who are overweight and have large breasts that are simply additional fat.
A variety of factors can contribute to gynecomastia, which is the benign (non-cancerous) development of male breast tissue. It can be a result of your medicine or an imbalance in your hormones. Alcoholism or drug misuse used for recreational purposes may also be to blame. I’ll talk to you about the reason of your gynecomastia. Gynaecomastia can be unpleasant and make the nipple sensitive in addition to making the breast and nipple expand.
Some cases of gynecomastia will get better on their own without any kind of medical help. If it is thought that one of your prescription medications is what caused your gynecomastia, it may go away with the substitution or cessation of that medication. Gynaecomastia can be uncomfortable and unsightly, but it is not dangerous and won’t hurt you if you have it. Once cancer has been ruled out, many men are comfortable with no treatment. Another type of therapy is the administration of drugs. Although they might not cause the breasts to shrink, these medications typically effectively reduce discomfort and sensitivity. Breast surgery is the third available treatment option.
Liposuction
Under a general anaesthesia, liposuction is utilised to remove the fatty tissue. On the chest wall, there are a few little wounds. To remove the fatty tissue, a cannula made of tiny metal tubes is employed. To create a flatter, firmer, and better-contoured chest, the incisions are then sutured. Stitches won’t need to be removed because they’ll be of the dissolving variety.
Removal of gynecomastia
I’ll cut around the nipple to remove the breast tissue during excisional surgery. This might be done concurrently with breast tissue liposuction.
Male breast reduction
It could be necessary to remove additional skin and tissue if the breast is particularly big. It will result in additional scars. The amount of skin that must be removed will determine the extent of scarring.
Your breasts may feel stiff and swollen following gynecomastia surgery, and they will seem discoloured. Bruises are possible. During the procedure, you might need to have a drain (a tiny plastic tube) put into the breast. Seven days following your operation, the breast care nurses will remove this. You need to be able to return home that day. For up to four weeks following the procedure, you could be instructed to wear a corset to reduce swelling. After your procedure, you won’t be able to drive, and it can take two to three days before you can.
After 7–10 days, the dressings can be taken off, and after one week, you should be ready to go back to work. Don’t carry anything heavy or perform strenuous physical labour for the first three weeks following the procedure. Most guys return to their regular routines in two to three weeks. An appointment will be made for you to visit the clinic in 7–10 days so that the dressings and drain(s) may be taken off and the wounds can be examined. After your operation, once the swelling and bruises have totally subsided, you will also be examined.
