A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a popular procedure with anyone carrying excess skin on their abdomen
Tummy Tuck Dubai | 30 June 2020
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is an operation to remove excess fat and skin from your abdomen (tummy) and to tighten your abdominal muscles. The results of a tummy tuck can be long lasting. You can help this by keeping to a healthy weight after your surgery. There are lots of reasons why people have this type of surgery, including having weaker abdominal muscles after pregnancy or having previously lost a lot of weight.
Why do some people have a tummy tuck? You might want to have a tummy tuck because:
you have loose skin after major weight loss
your abdominal skin and muscles might have become slack after pregnancy
you have abdominal scarring from earlier surgery or injury
it’s part of another operation that you need, such as hernia repair
Tummy tuck surgery removes excess fat and skin and can tighten your abdominal muscles to improve the shape of your abdomen. Some stretch marks from pregnancy may be removed and others made less noticeable. Tummy tuck surgery isn’t a treatment to help you lose or control your weight and won’t stop you from gaining weight in the future either.
Diastasis Recti: The Postpartum Body Problem No One Talks About
Cosmetic Surgery Dubai | 26 June 2020
Separation of the rectus abdominis muscles following childbirth is the most common reason for weakening of the abdominal wall. The condition impacts on body aesthetics and may be associated with stomach protrusion, hernia formation, lower back pain and impaired posture. Surgical treatment repositions and tightens the muscles, resulting in a stronger and flatter abdomen.
Diastasis recti is defined as a separation of the rectus abdominis muscles in the midline (linea alba). Up to 60 % of all women will experience muscle separation during the third trimester of pregnancy or the immediate postpartum period – a normal physiological event that usually reverts spontaneously.
Permanent diastasis is less frequent (10-15 %), most often occurring in women who have been pregnant three or more times or have carried large babies. The condition is thought to be caused by the accumulated effects of maternal hormones (which relax abdominal muscles and soften connective tissues) and the repeated biomechanical stretching of the abdominal wall.
Diastasis recti is evident around the navel (umbilicus) or the area above. The width of separation typically ranges between two to five centimetres and is easily felt whilst laying flat. As all muscles of the abdomen are connected in the fibrous midline, a widening of this area will diminish overall muscle-performance and core strength. A common concern is the inability to recover pre-pregnancy abdominal muscle tone, even with daily sit-ups and exercise. The weakened abdominal wall is prone to bulging while standing upright or in situations involving increased abdominal pressure. Hernias may develop but are usually asymptomatic.
Hand Rejuvenation Treatments
Aesthetic Medicine Dubai | 24 June 2020
Frequently the focus of cosmetic improvement is the face, yet one of the most age-telling body features neglected are our hands. The skin on the back of the hands is extremely thin and loss of fat padding shows quickly. Take away this cushion and all the structures in the hand show up, the tendons, bones and the veins.
The natural fat cushion that we are born with begins to lessen in our late twenties and early 30’s. By the time most of us approach 50, we have hands that tell the truth about our age and often they can actually make us seem older than we are!
Hand rejuvenation can restore the volume on the back of the hands that has been lost due to the natural ageing process via a very simple and convenient procedure. The treatment is highly effective and non time-consuming. It also delivers long-lasting results. Hand rejuvenation is safe, effective and extremely popular both for its immediate effectiveness and long duration.

Fillers in Dubai | 21 June 2020
Dermal filler injections are non-surgical and typically completed during an office visit. Your initial treatment will begin with a consultation, during which you will meet with me to discuss your concerns and goals.
During your consultation, I will evaluate your area of concern and review your medical history. While the risks associated with dermal fillers are minimal, you need to fully disclose your medical history prior to treatment, as certain allergies, skin and neurological conditions, or medications can jeopardize your safety or results. For instance, you need to tell me if you have been taking NSAIDs (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) or blood thinners, as these increase the likelihood of bruising.
Your injectable filler treatment
Just before the actual treatment, the area will be cleaned, and you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area prior to injection. Many filler products also contain lidocaine, a mild anesthetic, which is intended to help minimize discomfort during and after your treatment. I will then inject a precise amount of filler strategically beneath the skin.
Depending on the product and the areas treated, you should be able to notice results immediately after receiving filler injections. Some patients experience mild bruising and swelling, but these are temporary and should subside over the days following treatment. You will be able to go back to your normal activities right after treatment, but I may ask you to take the day off from exercise or other strenuous activity.
If you are having fat injections…
Facial fat grafting is a surgical procedure and follows a different treatment protocol. Typically, fat grafting is performed as an outpatient procedure, using general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. Up to 2 weeks of downtime may be required, depending on the extent of liposuction performed. I will go over what to expect with surgery and recovery during your consultation.
Breast Enlargement & Augmentation With Implants
Breast Augmentation Dubai | 15 June 2020
Breast augmentation surgery requires a general anaesthetic, with the operation taking 1-2 hours, and is usually performed as a day-stay or overnight-stay procedure. Following the surgery it is important to have restricted light activities, with no lifting or heavy duties for 7-10 days. Most patients may drive again and return to work within 10 days after the surgery. Heavy activities and sport should not be undertaken for 3-4 weeks following the surgery. Breast augmentation can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, enlarging your breasts and making them more proportional with the rest of your body. Breast augmentation can also be used to correct differences in the size of your breasts or sagging breasts which can occur after pregnancy and breast-feeding. There are many choices and options in breast augmentation, which require careful planning to individualise which are the best options for you. All of these choices have advantages and disadvantages, which you should understand before you make a decision with your surgeon. Breast implants will make your breasts larger, but the underlying shape of your breasts will not change, and differences in the size and shape of your breasts may even be more obvious after the surgery.

PRP Therapy For Hair Loss
Aesthetic Medicine Dubai | 8 June 2020
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is an effective and proven treatment for hair loss. Blood is taken from a patient’s arm into a tube that contains a separation gel. The blood is placed in a centrifugal machine to separate the red blood cells from the plasma that contains the platelets.
The PRP containing a high concentration of platelets is then injected into areas of the scalp that show hair thinning. This stimulates hair growth by encouraging the rejuvenation of follicles and also extending the growth cycle of the hair.
Clinical data provides evidence that PRP also promotes healing by the release of cytokines and growth factors from the platelets into the areas being treated.
Abdominoplasty: What are the alternatives to tummy tuck?
Abdominoplasty Dubai | 5 June 2020
Although it’s not strictly an alternative, you might be able to have liposuction to reshape your abdomen. This is where I use a special machine to suck out excess fat from under your skin.
You can have it on its own instead of a tummy tuck, but it only removes fat, whereas a tummy tuck removes fat and skin. After liposuction, your skin will shrink back a little, if you’re younger and your skin is still quite elastic. But if you have loose skin or muscles before the operation, then liposuction alone won’t be effective.
Liposuction might be helpful if you’re not generally overweight, but have localised areas of fat that you want to get rid of. If you have excess skin, liposuction alone won’t be effective.
Liposuction may occasionally be an added part of a tummy tuck procedure. As with any medical procedure, liposuction can have side-effects and longer-term complications. Your surgeon will tell you about the potential risks and benefits of tummy tuck and any other treatment options available to you.
Uplifted & fuller-looking breasts
Breast Augmentation Dubai | 1 June 2020
For most of my patients, planning breast augmentation surgery is fairly straightforward. However, if you are older (over 40), have had multiple pregnancies, or have lost a significant amount of weight, you may need to plan for a breast lift as well.
If a patient has minimal breast sag and minimal excess (but good quality) skin, then implants alone can provide the lift needed without additional surgical lifting. This is particularly true when the implants are being placed below the muscle. If the patient has minimal sagging, then placing the implant under the breast will ensure perky, natural and firm results.
If the patient has poor skin quality, stretch marks, too much sagging skin, low-resting nipples, or there appears to be a disengagement between the skin, gland, and chest wall, then a lift is mandatory to achieve the best cosmetic outcome. While most women who fall into these categories are older, some young women do as well. If you have had multiple pregnancies, chances are high that the repeated expansion and contraction of the breast tissue has resulted in loose skin, stretch marks, and the loss of breast volume (especially in the upper portion of the breast). Women under 40 who have lost a significant amount of weight also frequently struggle with flat, drooping breasts. If you have battled obesity in the past, you will almost certainly need a breast lift along with implants.
Some surgeons avoid combining breast lift and augmentation surgery owing to the added complexity this represents, but in the long run, mastopexy augmentation tends to be less stressful and more cost-effective. Combining breast lift and breast augmentation into one single procedure is easier for the patient and more likely to result in a successful outcome.
Blepharoplasty – How Eyelid Surgery Works to Refresh Your Appearance
Blepharoplasty Dubai | 19 May 2020
The eyes have a dramatic impact on appearance and can let others know how we feel – whether we are happy, sad, angry, or tired. They are one of the first things we notice and they have a great deal to do with how others perceive us as they glance at our facial features. Eyes with excessive or sagging skin are frequently associated with a perception of old age (even when they occur in a young per-son) and tiredness. Unfortunately the eyes are often one of the first areas on the face to show telltale signs of aging. Over time, the eyelids may begin to droop and sag. Bags can form under the eyelids making it hard to feel alive and vibrant. The loose skin over your eyes and the fat bags under your eyes may be making you look more tired and older than you feel inside. Cosmetic eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is an operation (actually, a set of operations) for your eyelids designed to maintain the appearance of your eyes. Surgery of the eyelids, blepharoplasty upper and lower, can correct sagging eyelids, remove fatty pouches beneath the eyes and remove excess skin from the upper eyelids. The result is a brighter, more alert, and rested appearance.

Tummy Tuck – Extra Benefits of an Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty Dubai | 10 May 2020
A tummy tuck can be a transformative procedure for contouring the midsection by tightening weakened abdominal muscles and removing excess skin. However, many people are surprised to learn that when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, a tummy tuck offers additional benefits not normally associated with the surgery. In addition to helping people change their shape after pregnancy or losing significant amounts or weight, a tummy tuck can also do the following:
Reduce Back Pain
When your core muscles are weak, your other muscles must compensate to help you keep your posture, and this compensation can lead to back pain. Additionally, strong core muscles stabilize and keep your pelvis and spine in a neutral position, which aids in a healthy back. Tummy tuck surgery tightens your abdominal muscles, which effectively strengthens your core, improves your posture, and can help to reduce back pain.
Reduce Urinary Incontinence
Countless women suffer from a weak bladder caused by childbirth or natural aging. If you leak when you sneeze, cough, jump, or laugh, your tummy tuck procedure can improve your bladder control. During the procedure, your surgeon can create a slight obstruction using the soft tissues that support the pelvic floor, bladder, and urethra. This causes tension and pressure along the path from the bladder to the urethra, preventing leakage.
Correct Ventral Hernias
A ventral hernia is a bulge of tissues that protrudes through an opening in your abdominal wall muscles. It can cause pain and complications with other organs, like the intestines, and pregnancy is a risk factor for developing these types of hernias. Women exploring abdominoplasty who also have a ventral hernia are often pleased to learn that a tummy tuck and hernia repair can be combined into one surgery, requiring just one recovery period. Additionally, by tightening the muscles, a tummy tuck also reduces the likelihood of hernia reoccurrence.
Increase Exercise Tolerance
Removing excess skin and strengthening the abdominal muscles can make exercise easier. Not only will the removal of excess skin make exercise physically less taxing, but it will also boost your confidence at the gym. Often when patients undergo a body contouring procedure such as a tummy tuck, they are more motivated to stick to an exercise regimen.
